Blue Ridge School

The Blue Ridge School is a small, all boys, college preparatory boarding school located in Central Virginia. The school is situated approximately two hours south-west of Washington D.C. and a half an hour outside of Charlottesville, Virginia, home of the University of Virginia. The school caters to boys who learn best in a small, structured, caring learning environment.

The school has approximately 190 Students who come from all over the world. The boys represent over 20 States within the U.S. and 8 countries. Approximately 6% of the population is international. The school employs approximately 37 faculty, most of whom live on campus (about 90%). The average class size at Blue Ridge is 9 students and the teacher to student ratio is approximately 5-6 to 1 on any given year.

Blue Ridge offers many programs in which the boys participate. A short laundry list will include: Football (American), Soccer, Indoor Soccer, Basketball, Tennis (Fall and Spring), Golf (Fall and Spring), Wrestling, Weight Conditioning, Baseball, Lacrosse, Intramurals, Drama, Art, Music (Choir), Mountain Bike Team and the Outdoor Program. The outdoor program is very popular. The boys make use of our surroundings (approximately 750 Acres, Climbing Tower, Mountain Bike and Hiking Trails, ponds, rivers and streams).

Academic and Sport Facilities

Academic Building complete with 26 Classrooms, the Fishburne Learning Center (for additional academic support), Art Studio, two computer labs, wireless internet access in our Library and Academic Building. Two gymnasiums, four basketball courts, four tennis courts, football, lacrosse and soccer fields, weight room, wrestling room, high and low ropes course, climbing tower, four ponds for fishing and kayaking.

Dormitories and School Residences

Two dormitories which house our students. Both dorms have air condition and are equipped with high speed internet and telephone service. The students are also allowed to have cell phones.
