St. Bernard’s Catholic School
St. Bernard’s Catholic School (SBCS) was established 1912 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange. Located five hours north of San Francisco, SBCS is nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Redwoods of Northern California. SBCS is situated in a safe residential neighbourhood close to shopping and restaurants. SBCS is a college preparatory school serving students in grades 7 through 12th with 100% of our graduates attending a college or university. Because of our rural location, students have an advantage when applying to many of the most prestigious universities and colleges in the United States. SBCS offers an extensive list of Honor and Advanced Placement courses, and provides students small class sizes which is conducive to class discussions and the development of critical thinking skills. An English Immersion Class, approved by the University of California provides international students a university approved ESL class to improve verbal, reading and writing skills. Drama, music, choir, ceramics, and other Visual and Performing Art courses provide a well rounded education, complimenting our extensive men and women’s athletic program, and liberal arts education. Students live in a beautiful dormitory adjacent to the campus. Wings are separated by gender with two students per room. A large living room, study hall and exercise room are all located within the dormitory.
Students experience the outdoors, local culture events and performances and supervised overnight trips throughout Northern California. A disciplined and safe environment to live and learn is part of the daily life of an SBCS residential student.
