Burr and Burton Academy
Burr and Burton has a tradition of preparing students academically and personally for higher education. The school offer many opportunities to develop their leadership, intellectual, social, artistic and athletic skills. The small program allows for personal attention to ensure academic, personal and social success.
Burr and Burton was founded in 1829 and in the past 10 years there have been new buildings and renovations. Burr and Burton Academy is an independent school that serves approximately 700 students in grades 9-12, offers a highly competitive academic program.
Burr and Burton is located in Manchester, Vermont. Manchester is a rural town that offers many outdoors activities, beautiful mountain views with skiing and snowboarding mountains only 10 to 15 miles away, as well as a busy town with many brand name outlets for shopping.
Academic and Sport Facilities
Seminary Building, The Smith Center for Science and Communications, Library, the Rowland Center, Art Department, Cafeteria, The Riley Center for the Arts, Theatre and The E.H. Henry Physical Education Center (Gym, Workout room and P.E. classrooms).
3 playing fields; soccer, football, field hockey and lacrosse. The Gym has a basketball court and an exercise/workout room. Sports are seasonal. Fall sports are soccer, football, field hockey and cross country running. Winter sports are basketball, dance, downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing and ice hockey. Spring sports are baseball, softball tennis, golf, track and field and lacrosse.
Dormitories and School Residences
The school owns three houses on campus that serve as small dormitories, in which faculty and their spouses also reside. The dorms are either for boys or girls. In the dorms there is wireless computer connection, TV and telephone. There are a few single rooms, but students mainly share a room with another student. There is a computer/working area, living room, dining and kitchen. Students eat together at dinner time with dorm parents. Students can also stay with local host families which are carefully selected by school officials.

Extracurricular activities
Sports practices and games take place after school. (School day ends at 2:30 Monday through Thursday and 12:30 on Fridays) There are also 22 after school clubs available for students that do not wish to do sports, such as rock climbing, chess, music and drama
